ClearV® vs ClearSilk®
ClearV® and ClearSilk® can both be used within vascular and redness treatment strategies, but they are not the same treatment.
ClearV® is designed for targeted treatment of selected visible and subsurface vascular structures using 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser energy and SVI™ visualisation.
ClearSilk® is generally used differently, with treatment focused more broadly on skin appearance and selected diffuse redness concerns.
A patient with one defined vessel around the nose may therefore require a different approach from a patient with widespread facial redness.
Some patients may have both types of concern.
ClearV® vs BBL HEROic™
BBL HEROic™ uses broadband light rather than a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser.
Broadband light can be useful for selected superficial pigmentary and vascular concerns, while ClearV® is designed specifically for targeted vascular treatment.

The system combines 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser energy, Subsurface Vein Illumination (SVI™) and integrated cooling technology to support precise treatment of appropriate vascular concerns.
At Pearl Skin Polyclinic in Dubai, we first determine what type of vascular problem is present, how deep the vessel appears to be and whether ClearV® is the appropriate technology.
Redness is not one diagnosis — and not every visible vessel should be treated in the same way.
What Is ClearV®?
ClearV® is a vascular laser technology developed by Sciton.
The system uses a 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength, which allows laser energy to penetrate beneath the surface of the skin and target haemoglobin within appropriate blood vessels.
ClearV® was designed specifically for vascular treatment rather than general skin resurfacing.
One of its key features is Subsurface Vein Illumination — SVI™.
This technology allows the provider to visualise certain vessels beneath the surface of the skin that may otherwise be difficult to see clearly.
This can be particularly useful when the visible vessel is connected to a deeper vascular network.
ClearV® for Venous Lakes
A venous lake is a vascular lesion that commonly appears as a soft blue or purple area, often on the lip or other sun-exposed areas.
Selected venous lakes may be suitable for vascular laser treatment following diagnosis and assessment.
Because pigmented and vascular lesions can sometimes appear similar, correct diagnosis is important before laser energy is applied.
ClearV® for Cherry Angiomas
Cherry angiomas are common benign vascular lesions that typically appear as small red or purple spots.
Selected lesions may be considered for vascular laser treatment depending on their size, location and characteristics.
Not every red lesion is a cherry angioma.
Diagnosis comes before treatment.
ClearV® for Port-Wine Stains & Other Vascular Lesions
Certain vascular birthmarks and vascular lesions require more complex assessment than isolated facial or body vessels.
ClearV® may be considered for selected vascular lesions when clinically appropriate.

ClearV® for the Face vs Diffuse Redness
This distinction is important.

Diffuse redness is different.

What Happens During ClearV® Treatment?
Vascular Assessment
The provider evaluates vessel colour, depth, diameter, location, pattern, skin phototype and surrounding tissue.
SVI™ Visualisation
When appropriate, Subsurface Vein Illumination may be used to help visualise vascular structures beneath the skin surface.
Treatment Parameters
Laser parameters are selected according to the vascular target and individual patient characteristics. There is no universal setting appropriate for every vessel.
1064 nm Nd:YAG Laser Treatment
Laser energy is delivered precisely to the selected vascular structure. Integrated cooling technology supports treatment comfort and protection of surrounding tissue.
Vascular Response
The treated vessel may change in appearance immediately or progressively following treatment. The body then gradually processes the treated vascular structure over time.
What Does ClearV® Treatment Feel Like?
Sensation varies according to the treatment area, vessel and parameters used.
Patients may experience brief sensations of heat or snapping as laser energy is delivered.
Integrated cooling technology is used as part of the treatment system.
What Happens to the Vessel After ClearV®?
The vessel does not necessarily disappear the moment laser energy is delivered.
The targeted haemoglobin absorbs energy, producing a controlled thermal response within the vessel.
Depending on the vessel, it may initially appear darker, lighter or otherwise temporarily altered.
The body gradually processes the treated vessel over time.
Vascular clearance is a process — not always an immediate disappearance.
When Will I See ClearV® Results?
Results depend strongly on the type, depth and diameter of the vessel being treated.
Some vascular changes may become visible relatively quickly, while others improve progressively over the following weeks.
Different vessels respond differently.
The final result should therefore be assessed after sufficient time has passed for the vascular response and recovery process to occur.
How Many ClearV® Sessions Will I Need?
There is no universal number of ClearV® treatments appropriate for every patient.
The treatment course depends on:
Vessel Type • Depth • Diameter • Location • Number of Vessels • Skin Phototype • Individual Response
Some isolated vessels may require fewer treatments.
More extensive vascular patterns may require a series of sessions or a combination approach.
New vessels can also develop over time, particularly when there is an underlying tendency toward facial telangiectasia or rosacea.

We assess whether the concern is an isolated visible vessel, a deeper subsurface vessel, diffuse redness, rosacea-related vascular change or another type of vascular lesion.
When ClearV® is appropriate, treatment parameters are selected according to vessel depth, diameter, colour, anatomical area and skin phototype.
When another technology is more appropriate, your treatment plan may instead include ClearSilk®, BBL HEROic™ or another dermatological approach.
The goal is not simply to treat redness. The goal is to identify the vascular target and select the technology that matches it.
Why 1064 nm Nd:YAG for Vascular Treatment?
Different vascular concerns exist at different depths.
The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates more deeply than many shorter wavelengths, which makes it useful for selected deeper vascular targets.
However, wavelength alone does not determine treatment success.

What Is SVI™ — Subsurface Vein Illumination?
One of the distinguishing features of ClearV® is its ability to visualise certain vascular structures beneath the surface of the skin.
SVI™ stands for Subsurface Vein Illumination.
The technology helps reveal vessels that may not be easily visible under normal room lighting.
This can help the provider understand whether a visible superficial vessel is connected to another vascular structure beneath the skin.
For the patient, this means treatment can be planned with more information than simply treating the red or blue line visible on the surface.
ClearV® for Facial Vessels
Small visible vessels commonly develop around the nose, cheeks, chin and other facial areas.
They may appear red, purple or blue depending on their size, depth and blood flow.
Some patients describe them as:
“Broken Capillaries” • “Red Veins” • “Spider Veins” • “Red Lines on My Face”
ClearV® allows selected individual vessels to be targeted with vascular laser energy.
But visible facial vessels may also occur as part of conditions such as rosacea.
In these cases, treating individual vessels may only be one component of the overall treatment strategy.
ClearV® for Rosacea-Related Vessels
Rosacea is not simply “red skin”.
It is a chronic condition that can include:

When defined visible vessels are an important component, ClearV® may be considered.

This area requires particularly precise treatment planning because of the anatomy surrounding the eye.
Not every visible vessel around the eyes is suitable for laser treatment.
The vessel's location, depth, diameter and relationship to surrounding structures must be assessed before treatment is recommended.
ClearV® for Spider Veins & Leg Veins
Visible vessels on the legs may include different vascular patterns.
Patients may describe them as:

ClearV® may be considered for selected superficial and subsurface vessels when their characteristics are appropriate for 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser treatment.
However, visible leg veins can sometimes be associated with deeper venous disease.
Patients with symptoms such as swelling, pain, heaviness or prominent varicose veins may require vascular assessment before cosmetic laser treatment.
ClearV® is not a treatment for every type of varicose vein or underlying venous insufficiency.
