How Acne Develops
- 01

Excess Oil
Overactive sebaceous glands produce excess sebum.
- 02

Clogged Pore
Dead skin cells and oil clog the follicle.
- 03

Bacteria Growth
C. acnes bacteria multiply inside the pore.
- 04

Inflammation
The body reacts, causing red, swollen breakouts.
- 05

Post-Acne Marks
Redness, dark spots or scars may remain.
Acne is a complex inflammatory condition. Several factors contribute to breakouts.
Forever Clear BBL® – How It Works
- 01

Blue BBL Light
Targets acne-causing bacteria (C. acnes) on the skin.
- 02

Yellow BBL Light
Reduces inflammation and helps calm active breakouts.

Possible Side Effects & Risks
Temporary reactions may include: Redness • Warmth • Swelling • Sensitivity • Temporary Changes in Pigmentation • Temporary Increase in Visible Redness
Other adverse effects are possible depending on skin phototype, treatment parameters, sun exposure and individual response.
Burns, blistering or pigmentary changes can occur if treatment is inappropriate for the patient's skin or performed with unsuitable parameters.
Appropriate medical assessment and careful patient selection are therefore important.
Read more about Forever Clear BBL®
Forever Clear BBL® is a light-based acne treatment protocol by Sciton designed to target several components involved in active acne.
Unlike a standard facial or cleansing treatment, Forever Clear BBL® uses different wavelengths of BroadBand Light™ in a multi-step protocol to address acne-related bacteria, active inflammation and persistent redness.
At Pearl Skin Polyclinic in Dubai, we do not treat acne with a device alone.
Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin condition, and every treatment starts with a medical assessment.
We evaluate the type of acne, inflammatory activity, comedones, post-inflammatory pigmentation, redness, scarring, current skincare and previous treatment before deciding whether Forever Clear BBL® should become part of your treatment plan.
What Can Forever Clear BBL® Treat?
- ACTIVE ACNE
- Inflammatory Acne
- Papules & Pustules
- Acne-Related Inflammation
- Persistent Facial Breakouts
- Jawline Acne
- Acne on the Chest
- Back Acne
- Shoulder Acne
- POST-ACNE CHANGES
- Post-Acne Redness
- Post-Inflammatory Vascular Marks
- Uneven Skin Tone After Acne
- Selected Post-Inflammatory Pigmentation
- IMPORTANTForever Clear BBL® does not treat every component of acne and post-acne in the same way. Deep acne scars, active comedonal acne, post-inflammatory pigmentation and inflammatory lesions are different clinical problems. Some patients therefore require a combination of medical skincare, prescription treatment where indicated, professional cleansing, light-based therapy and later scar treatment.
We treat acne as a condition — not as a collection of individual spots.
What Is Forever Clear BBL®?
Forever Clear BBL® is Sciton's acne-focused BroadBand Light™ protocol.
The treatment uses a sequence of selected light wavelengths rather than relying on one setting for every stage of acne.
The protocol is designed around three objectives:
1. BLUE BBL LIGHT — Acne-Related Bacteria
Blue light is used to target Cutibacterium acnes, one of the microorganisms involved in the development of inflammatory acne.
2. YELLOW BBL LIGHT — Inflammation & Redness
The next stage is designed to address inflammatory and vascular components associated with active acne and persistent redness.
3. INFRARED LIGHT — Skin Response
The final stage uses infrared light as part of the multi-step protocol.
This is what makes Forever Clear BBL® different from simply performing a generic IPL treatment on acne.
Different stages of the treatment have different targets.
How Does Forever Clear BBL® Work?
Acne does not develop because the skin is “dirty”.
Several biological mechanisms are involved, including: Increased Sebum Production • Follicular Hyperkeratinisation • Cutibacterium acnes • Inflammation • Hormonal & Genetic Factors
Forever Clear BBL® does not replace medical acne management.
Instead, it can be used as one component of a personalised treatment strategy to address selected light-responsive elements of active acne.
A patient with predominantly inflammatory acne may require a different plan from someone with mostly closed comedones.
A patient with active acne and persistent redness requires a different strategy from someone whose acne has resolved but who is left with pigmentation and deep scars.
The device is selected after we understand which stage of acne we are treating.

Forever Clear BBL for Acne
Forever Clear BBL is a Sciton protocol designed specifically for acne-focused treatment.
The protocol uses selected wavelengths of BroadBand Light™ as part of a multi-step approach.
At Pearl Skin Polyclinic, we first determine the type and severity of acne before deciding whether Forever Clear BBL is appropriate.
It may be incorporated into a personalised acne programme alongside appropriate medical treatment, skincare or other procedures.
Patients with: Inflammatory Acne • Recurrent Breakouts • Post-Acne Redness • Mixed Acne Concerns may require different combinations of treatment.
Forever Clear BBL is part of an acne strategy — not a substitute for acne diagnosis.
BBL HEROic™ for Post-Acne Redness
After inflammatory acne lesions resolve, some patients are left with persistent red or pink marks.
These changes are different from true acne scars and different from brown post-inflammatory pigmentation.
When vascular redness is the dominant post-acne concern, BBL may be considered as part of the treatment strategy.
Patients with mixed post-acne changes may require different technologies for: Redness • Pigmentation • Texture • Atrophic Acne Scars
Correct classification helps determine the appropriate treatment.
BBL HEROic™ vs ClearV®
BBL HEROic™ and ClearV® can both be used for vascular concerns, but they target different clinical situations.
BBL HEROic™ may be useful for diffuse superficial redness and selected small superficial vessels.
ClearV® uses 1064 nm Nd:YAG technology and is designed for targeted treatment of selected visible and subsurface vessels.
A patient with general facial redness may therefore require a different treatment from someone with a defined blue or purple vessel.
Some patients may benefit from a staged combination approach.
BBL HEROic™ vs ClearSilk®
ClearSilk® and BBL HEROic™ can both form part of a redness or skin-quality treatment programme, but they work differently.
BBL HEROic™ uses filtered BroadBand Light™ to target selected chromophores such as melanin and haemoglobin.
ClearSilk® uses laser technology and may be selected for different redness and skin-quality concerns.
The choice depends on the diagnosis, vascular pattern, pigmentation and skin phototype.
Who Is BBL HEROic™ For?
BBL HEROic™ may be considered for selected patients concerned about:
- Sun Spots & Frecklesappropriate superficial pigmentation related to sun exposure.
- Uneven Pigmentationwhen the pigmentary condition is suitable for light-based treatment.
- Photodamagevisible changes associated with cumulative sun exposure.
- Diffuse Rednessselected superficial vascular redness.
- Small Facial Vesselsappropriate superficial vascular structures.
- Rosacea-Related Rednessin selected patients following assessment.
- Acnewhen Forever Clear BBL is appropriate as part of an acne treatment programme.
- Post-Acne Rednessselected persistent vascular marks after inflammatory acne.
- Uneven Skin Tonewhen pigmentary or vascular irregularities contribute to uneven appearance.
What Happens During BBL HEROic™ Treatment?
Skin Assessment
The treatment begins with assessment of pigmentation, redness, vascular changes, acne activity, skin phototype and recent sun exposure.
Target Identification
We determine whether the main target is: Melanin • Haemoglobin • Acne-Related Changes • Multiple Light-Responsive Concerns
Personalised Settings
The appropriate filter, energy parameters, pulse characteristics and treatment strategy are selected according to the target and skin.
BroadBand Light™ Treatment
Controlled pulses of light are delivered across the selected treatment area. The targeted chromophore absorbs appropriate wavelengths of light, producing a controlled photothermal response.
Progressive Skin Response
Pigmented lesions may temporarily darken. Redness may temporarily change following treatment. The treated structures then respond progressively over the following days and weeks.
What Does BBL HEROic™ Feel Like?
Treatment sensation varies according to the area, filter and treatment settings.
Patients may experience brief sensations of warmth or snapping during delivery of the light pulses.
Cooling and appropriate treatment parameters are used to support comfort and protect surrounding tissue.
Individual sensitivity varies.
Benefits of Forever Clear BBL®
- Targets Active Inflammatory AcneThe protocol is designed specifically for acne rather than using a general photofacial setting.
- Multi-Step Light ProtocolDifferent wavelengths are used sequentially to address different components of the acne process.
- Helps Reduce Acne-Related RednessThe vascular and inflammatory components of acne can be addressed as part of the treatment strategy.
- Suitable for Face and Body AcneTreatment can be considered for appropriate acne affecting the face, chest, shoulders and back.
- Non-Ablative TreatmentThe procedure does not intentionally remove the surface of the skin and generally requires less recovery than ablative resurfacing procedures.
- Can Be Integrated Into a Medical Acne PlanForever Clear BBL® can be combined with appropriate homecare, medical treatment and other procedures according to the stage and type of acne.
What Happens During Your Forever Clear BBL® Treatment?
Acne Consultation & Skin Assessment
We assess: Acne Type • Inflammatory Activity • Comedones • Oil Production • Post-Acne Redness • Pigmentation • Existing Scars • Current Skincare • Previous Acne Treatment • Medications • Possible Triggers
Photography & Skin Preparation
The skin is cleansed and clinical photographs may be taken to monitor progress. Appropriate eye protection is provided.
Blue BBL Light
The first stage targets acne-related C. acnes bacteria.
Yellow BBL Light
The next stage addresses inflammation and vascular redness associated with active acne.
Infrared Light
The final stage completes the multi-step Forever Clear BBL® protocol.
After treatment, your doctor provides individual skincare and aftercare recommendations.
Forever Clear BBL® Aftercare
- FIRST 24–48 HOURS
- Use gentle skincare as recommended.
- Avoid unnecessary rubbing, scrubbing or irritation.
- Avoid adding new strong active ingredients unless advised by your doctor.
- Follow your individual sun-protection recommendations.
- FOLLOWING DAYS
- Temporary redness or warmth may occur.
- Do not pick or squeeze active lesions.
- Continue the prescribed or recommended acne skincare plan.
- Avoid aggressive exfoliation unless specifically advised.
- Reintroduce acids, retinoids or other active skincare according to your practitioner's instructions.
Aftercare should support the acne-treatment plan rather than interrupt it.
Forever Clear BBL® for Inflammatory Acne
Inflammatory acne may include: Papules • Pustules • Red Inflamed Lesions • Recurrent Breakouts
Forever Clear BBL® may be considered when inflammation is an important component of the acne presentation.
However, the severity and pattern of acne must still be assessed medically.
Patients with extensive inflammatory acne, nodules, cysts or a significant risk of scarring may require prescription or systemic treatment.
Light-based treatment should not delay appropriate medical acne management.
Forever Clear BBL® for Jawline Acne
Jawline acne is a common patient concern, but its location alone does not explain why the acne is occurring.
Breakouts around the chin and jawline may be influenced by: Sebum Production • Follicular Blockage • Hormonal Factors • Skincare • Occlusion • Individual Acne Pattern
Forever Clear BBL® may be considered for selected inflammatory lesions in this area.
Persistent or recurrent jawline acne may require broader medical assessment and long-term acne management.
Forever Clear BBL® for Back & Body Acne
Acne can affect areas beyond the face, particularly the: Chest • Shoulders • Upper Back • Back
Body acne may involve inflammatory lesions, comedones, post-inflammatory redness, pigmentation and scarring.
Forever Clear BBL® may be considered for suitable inflammatory body acne as part of a broader treatment strategy.
Because the skin of the back and chest differs from facial skin, the treatment plan and parameters are selected according to the anatomical area and acne pattern.
Forever Clear BBL® for Post-Acne Redness
After an inflammatory acne lesion resolves, a red or pink mark may remain.
This is different from an active acne lesion and different from a true acne scar.
When vascular redness is the dominant residual change, light-based treatment may be considered.
It is important to distinguish between: Post-Acne Redness • Post-Inflammatory Pigmentation • Active Acne • Atrophic Acne Scars
These problems may exist together but require different treatment approaches.
Forever Clear BBL® for Post-Inflammatory Pigmentation
Some acne lesions leave brown or grey pigmentation after inflammation resolves.
This is known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Whether BBL treatment is appropriate depends on: Skin Phototype • Pigment Depth • Recent Sun Exposure • Inflammatory Activity • Previous Treatments • Individual Risk of Pigmentary Change
In some patients, alternative pigment-management strategies may be more appropriate.
Not every post-acne mark should automatically be treated with light.
Forever Clear BBL® vs Acne Scars
Forever Clear BBL® is primarily used within treatment strategies for active acne and selected acne-related redness.
It does not remodel deep atrophic acne scars in the same way as procedures designed specifically for scar remodelling.
Established scars may include: Rolling Scars • Boxcar Scars • Ice-Pick Scars
Depending on scar type, a separate scar-treatment programme may include procedures such as Morpheus8 RF microneedling or other dermatological treatments.
Active acne should generally be controlled before an aggressive scar-remodelling programme is considered.
Forever Clear BBL® vs HydraFacial
Forever Clear BBL® and HydraFacial address different aspects of acne-prone skin.
Forever Clear BBL® focuses on selected light-responsive components of inflammatory acne and acne-related redness.
HydraFacial Syndeo™ is primarily a cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and hydration treatment that may help selected patients with superficial congestion and blackheads.
A patient with predominantly inflammatory acne may therefore need a different strategy from someone with mainly clogged pores and comedonal congestion.
Some patients may benefit from both treatments at different stages of their acne programme.
Forever Clear BBL® vs Medical Facial Cleansing
Professional facial cleansing can be useful when the main concern includes: Blackheads • Closed Comedones • Clogged Pores • Surface Congestion
Forever Clear BBL® targets different acne components.
It is therefore not a replacement for extraction when significant comedonal congestion is present.
Likewise, repeated cleansing alone may not be sufficient when inflammatory acne remains active.
The correct treatment depends on which component of acne is dominant.
Who Is Forever Clear BBL® For?
Forever Clear BBL® may be considered for selected patients with:
- Inflammatory Acnered and inflamed acne lesions.
- Papules & Pustulesselected superficial inflammatory breakouts.
- Persistent Facial Acnewhen light-based therapy is appropriate within the treatment plan.
- Jawline Acneselected inflammatory lesions following assessment.
- Chest Acneappropriate inflammatory acne of the upper body.
- Back Acneselected body acne affecting the back.
- Shoulder Acneappropriate inflammatory acne in this area.
- Post-Acne Rednesspersistent vascular redness following inflammatory lesions.
Forever Clear BBL® may be less appropriate when the main concern is deep scarring, severe nodulocystic acne, isolated comedonal congestion or pigmentation that requires another treatment strategy.
When Forever Clear BBL® May Not Be Enough
Acne is multifactorial.
Forever Clear BBL® may address selected components, but some patients also require: Medical Skincare • Prescription Topical Treatment • Oral Medication • Professional Cleansing • Hormonal Assessment Where Indicated • Scar Treatment • Pigmentation Treatment
A patient should not be placed on repeated device treatment without understanding why the acne continues to develop.
Long-term acne control requires management of the condition, not just treatment of visible lesions.
When Will I See Results?
Forever Clear BBL® results are progressive.
Inflammatory activity and redness may begin to improve over the course of treatment, but acne should be assessed over time rather than immediately after one session.
The response depends on: Acne Type • Severity • Hormonal and Biological Factors • Skincare • Medication • Treatment Frequency • Individual Response
Some patients may experience new lesions during the treatment course because the underlying acne condition remains active.
The goal is progressive improvement and better long-term control.
How Many Forever Clear BBL® Sessions Will I Need?
There is no universal number of sessions suitable for every patient.
The recommended course depends on: Acne Severity • Distribution • Inflammatory Activity • Treatment Area • Current Medical Treatment • Skin Phototype • Individual Response
A series of treatments may be recommended.
The treatment plan may also change as the acne progresses from active inflammation to residual redness, pigmentation or scarring.
Acne treatment should evolve as the skin changes.
Recovery & Downtime
Forever Clear BBL® is a non-ablative light-based treatment.
Many patients can return to normal daily activities relatively quickly.
Temporary reactions may include: Redness • Warmth • Mild Swelling • Temporary Skin Sensitivity
The degree of reaction depends on the treatment area, settings and individual skin response.
Patients with active acne may also continue to develop lesions as part of their underlying condition.
This does not necessarily indicate that the treatment itself has caused the acne.
Forever Clear BBL® & Sun Exposure
Sun exposure is an important consideration for any light-based treatment in Dubai.
Recent tanning and significant UV exposure may affect treatment planning and the risk of unwanted pigmentary changes.
Patients should follow personalised photoprotection recommendations before and after treatment.
This becomes particularly important when acne is associated with post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Sun protection is part of acne-mark management — not just aftercare.
Forever Clear BBL® Consultation in Dubai
At Pearl Skin Polyclinic in Dubai, acne treatment begins with determining which components of acne are currently active.
We assess inflammatory lesions, comedones, oil production, post-acne redness, pigmentation, scarring, current skincare, previous treatment and relevant medical factors.
Forever Clear BBL® may then be incorporated into a personalised acne programme when light-based treatment is appropriate.
As the skin changes, the treatment strategy may also change.
Active acne, residual redness, pigmentation and scars are different stages and different targets.
The goal is not simply to clear today's breakout. The goal is to build a treatment strategy that addresses the acne process and reduces the risk of ongoing post-acne changes.
