What Is BBL HEROic™?

BBL stands for BroadBand Light™.

BBL HEROic™ is not a laser. Unlike a single-wavelength laser, BroadBand Light™ uses selected ranges of light wavelengths that can be filtered according to the target being treated.

This allows the treatment to be adapted to different chromophores within the skin.

Melanin can absorb selected wavelengths when treating appropriate superficial pigmented lesions.

Haemoglobin can be targeted when redness or selected superficial vascular concerns are the dominant problem.

The specific filter, energy parameters, pulse duration and treatment strategy are selected according to the patient's skin, concern and treatment area.

This is why BBL HEROic™ should not be approached as one standard light treatment with identical settings for every patient.

How Does BBL HEROic™ Work?

BBL HEROic™ delivers controlled pulses of BroadBand Light™ into the skin.

Different structures within the skin absorb different wavelengths of light.

When pigmentation is targeted, light energy is preferentially absorbed by melanin within suitable pigmented lesions.

When vascular redness is treated, haemoglobin becomes the principal target.

The absorbed energy creates a controlled photothermal response.

Over time, treated superficial pigment may temporarily become darker before gradually clearing, while selected vascular redness may become less visible as the targeted structures respond.

BBL HEROic™ is not one treatment with one setting. It is a platform that can be adapted to different clinical targets.

Sun Spots & Freckles

BBL HEROic™ can be used for appropriate benign pigmented lesions associated with sun exposure, including freckles and sun spots.

The aim is to target excess superficial pigment while preserving surrounding tissue.

However, not every brown patch is suitable for BBL treatment.

Before treatment, we need to determine whether the pigmentation represents: Benign Solar Pigmentation • Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation • Melasma • Another Pigmentary Condition

But redness itself is not a diagnosis.

What Happens to Pigment After BBL HEROic™?

Appropriate superficial pigment absorbs selected wavelengths of light.

Following treatment, pigmented spots may temporarily become darker or more visible.

The treated superficial pigment then gradually changes and clears as the skin recovers.

Patients should not pick or aggressively exfoliate treated pigmentation.

When Will I See BBL HEROic™ Results?
